Small Business Does Big Things for Energy Efficient Light Bulbs
Compact fluorescent light bulbs do not appeal to everyone, in part because of their appearance. British design company Hulger is hopefully going to change that with their newly designed CFLs. Light bulbs have always been part of aesthetic concerns, but usually it’s been the light itself that played the biggest part. Now the light bulbs themselves are being re-imagined, and they look great.
Hulger gave these light bulbs the name Plumen 001. They are energy efficient, long lasting, and provide great light just like any other compact fluorescent light bulb, but they go a step farther by offering broad aesthetic appeal to consumers. They look a bit unorthodox, but then again so did standard CFLs when they first came out. Now we’re used to the coils and twists, and these newly designed light bulbs are a breath of fresh air.
The design is actually a practical upgrade as well; the twist or coil type CFLs block some of their own light due to their design. The Plumen 001 minimizes this loss of luminescence by having glass tubing that doesn’t interfere with itself as much as standard compact fluorescent light bulbs. Plumen 001 light bulbs operate at around 80% improved efficiency over incandescent light bulbs, and the more open design means more of the light produced reaches the areas we need illuminated.
Even if people didn’t like the look of standard compact fluorescent light bulbs, they still used them and saved a lot of energy and money doing it. These Plumen 001 light bulbs from Hulger will do everything old compact fluorescents did while looking even better.
