Recent weeks have not been easy. It was almost impossible to turn on the TV, to visit a news or get on Facebook without learning another young life tragically shortened by suicide. Tyler Clementi. Jacob Miller. Raymond Chase. Seth Walsh. Asher Brown. Billy Lucas. And unfortunately, we know that the list continues. These are only the stories making news - research, with more than 1,100 students who die by suicide each year, over 20 young people died by suicide in the last week alone - and there was much more suffering.
Founder and Executive Director of the Minds Active, a national organization dedicated to the evolution of the conversation about mental health on college campuses, I remember that our work is more important than ever.Our students, staff and supporters will continue to work tirelessly to create campuses across the country, where youth feel safe that they, reach out to help ease and taken in charge in their luttes.Nous will be keep fighting against stigma and shame affecting mental health in our society, and to prevent people from seeking help they deserve.
We will make all our possible to get our messages and in their hands, minds and hearts of young adults. We will fight to ensure that our work is more relevant, and we hope that you do the same.
With this in mind, we are proud to stand with the foundation of the Jed, MTV and actress Brittany Snow in the newly launched Love Is Louder movement.Social media campaign also supported by DoSomething.org, project of Trevor, Reach Out, To Write Love on her, Love Is Not Abuse Liz Claiborne Inc., Stomp Out weapons bullying!, security connected and the advertising Council aims to disseminate messages of love and hope for young people who feel that they could have run all options.
